a newness.

i just wanted to share the very first photograph i took with my brand new (not really brand new, but new to me) 5D mark II camera.  i bought it used to save myself a ton of money but i got it from mr. theron humphrey himself so i know it has been taken care of (thiswildidea.com/whywerescue.com) and my new lens just came in yesterday so i had to test it out this morning.  i can't wait until i am off this weekend and i can go really play around with it.

around the neighborhood: smithville, texas

i was awoken at 5am by an evil cricket that decided to sing at the top of it's lungs inside my window-until air conditioner 2 feet away from my head.  i tried tracking it down and attempted sleeping on the couch but the noise was relentless.  so waking up before the sun was not my choice but i'm over it.  around the time the sun was coming up, eleanor and i loaded ourselves into the car and decided to go for a little morning drive.  we ended up out in smithville (about 45 miles away) and spent the morning exploring.  my grandmother lives out in smithville and so did my great grandparents.  it's a very small, but adorable little town.  if you pass a car on the road, be prepared to give the old two-finger-steering-wheel wave.  eleanor was working overtime today but she doesn't seem to mind.  she seems to enjoy anything that means she gets to hang with me and i love how she rests her head on my knee when we go on drives.  she's getting so good at her little tricks.  i am always so impressed with her.
